➜ Use of the Atlantic Ferries Service may only be made by a person holding a valid transport ticket, which must be kept for the entire period of use.
➜ Atlantic Ferries is not responsible for any damage or theft , including in the vehicles transported.

Safety recommendations and guidelines for a good trip
➜ After departure, turn off the engine and apply the parking brake;
➜ Always follow the instructions of Atlantic Ferries operating personnel, who are properly trained for this purpose.

In an emergency, you should:

➜ Observe the instructions of the trained personnel for this purpose.
At the terminal
➜ Contact service personnel;
➜ Stay with other people, do not isolate yourself;

Atlantic Ferries began operating in October 2007 as the concessionaire of the public transport service for Passengers, Light and Heavy Vehicles and Goods, connecting Setubal and the Troia Peninsula.

Atlantic Ferries is the largest operator in Portugal for the vehicles transport on inland waterways via ferry service.

With a fleet that includes two ferries and two catamarans , it performs almost 16,000 crossings annually in a service that operates 24 hours a day with an annual punctuality rate exceeding 99%.

As part of its social responsibility commitment, Atlantic Ferries is proud to support a range of local social solidarity institutions and organizations dedicated to environmental protection.

Regarding environmental initiatives, and as part of the compensation measures for the impacts of its activity, Atlantic Ferries contributes €0.10 for every ticket purchased towards preservation and monitoring efforts in the Sado Estuary. In this context, it has already delivered over 1.73 million euros in environmental contributions.

Atlantic Ferries also makes a very relevant contribution in reducing CO2 emissions achieving a reduction of approximately 3kg of CO2 for every transported vehicle.

In July 2018, Atlantic Ferries completed the process for Certification of its Integrated Management System (IMS) , and is certified in accordance with ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and ISO 45001 standards. This process involved and required the organization's commitment from everyone who works daily with the goal of serving our Customers and helps us to continue ensuring the provision of a safely quality service and with respect for the unique natural environment.

1. What are Atlantic Ferries operating hours?
Atlantic Ferries provides the crossing service across the Sado river 365 days a year.
Catamarans operate 24 hours a day, and Ferries operate with schedules adjusted according to the season.
The Atlantic Ferries office is located at Doca do Comercio (Ferry Terminal in Setubal) and is open from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday. For any information, please contact us via email at geral@atlanticferries.pt

2. Where are the boarding terminals located?
The Ferry terminals are located at Avenida Jaime Rebelo (Doca do Comércio) in Setúbal and at Cais Sul in Troia (next to the Soltroia urbanisation).
The Catamaran terminals are located at Rua Teotónio Banha in Setúbal and next to Troia Marina.

3. What is the vessel capacity?
The ferries have a maximum safe capacity of 500 passengers and 60 vehicles, and the catamarans have a maximum capacity of 350 passengers.

4. Where should I validate my ticket?
On catamarans, tickets are validated at the turnstiles installed at the terminals in Setúbal and Troia.
On ferries, transport tickets for vehicles are validated by Atlantic Ferries employees at the respective terminals. For foot passengers, validation in Setúbal is done at the turnstiles installed in the terminal, and in Troia, it is done by an employee at the vessel entrance.
All passengers must keep their ticket from the moment they enter the terminal limits until they pass the exit channels of the other terminal.

5. Do tickets have an expiration date?
Yes, transport tickets are valid for 1 (one) year from the date of purchase, except for Monthly Passes and Student Passes (valid for a period of 30 (thirty) days from the date of purchase), and Short-Duration Passes, which are valid for the period contracted at the time of purchase. The expiration date is printed on paper tickets and can also be consulted on the automatic vending machines.

6. What are the payment methods for acquiring a travel ticket?
Tickets are sold at the automatic vending machines and ticket offices located at Atlantic Ferries boarding terminals. Payments can be made with cash or bank cards. For vehicles, the Via Verde payment option is also available.

7. Is it possible to buy tickets online?
We are working towards this, but this option is not yet available.

8. What are the ticket office opening hours?

9. Is "Via Verde" available at Atlantic Ferries?
Yes, Atlantic Ferries offers Via Verde as a payment method for vehicles. Simply select your vehicle class, the number of journeys, and the number of passengers (excluding the driver) on the Automatic Vending Machine. Finally, select the "Via Verde" payment option. You must keep the generated ticket for later validation.

10. Are there preferential conditions for regular customers?
Yes, Atlantic Ferries offers advantageous solutions for frequent passengers, both foot passengers and those travelling with vehicles, including monthly passes for passengers and students, pre-paid 10 and 5-trip tickets for passengers on catamarans, and pre-paid 2 and 5-trip tickets for vehicles. Please note that all tickets have an expiration period (1 year in most cases), which can be consulted in the Operating Regulations

11. Does the vehicle driver need to buy a ticket?
No, the vehicle ticket includes its driver. Tickets for all other passengers must be purchased separately.

12. Where do pedestrian passengers board the ferries?
Boarding is done through the interior of the passenger terminal in Setúbal.
In Troia, vehicle and passenger access is in the same location, but for safety reasons, passengers must use the designated areas for foot traffic.

15. Is it possible to transport pets?
Yes, passengers are allowed to transport non-dangerous pets free of charge. They must be kept inside vehicles or properly enclosed in a suitable container that can be transported as hand luggage.

16. What is the maximum permitted weight for heavy vehicles on the ferries?
The maximum weight for a heavy vehicle is 26 tonnes, and the maximum permitted height is 4.20 m.

17. Is there a connection between Atlantic Ferries and other public transport?
Yes. In Troia, there is a bus stop that connects to Grândola, the council seat. You can check the timetables at Rodoviária do Alentejo.
In Setúbal, the Atlantic Ferries pier is about a 10-minute walk from the bus terminal and about a 15-minute walk from the train station.

18. Can I use "Passe Navegante" on Atlantic Ferries?
No, "Passe Navegante" is not valid on Atlantic Ferries.

19. Can I travel with a bicycle on Atlantic Ferries?
Yes, travelling with a bicycle is permitted only on the ferries. Entry should be made through the passenger terminal.
